The Current Affairs Education Commission launches

We are delighted to announce the official launch of the Current Affairs Education Commission. Chaired by Sam Freedman and convened by The Economist Educational Foundation, the Commission arrives at a pivotal moment. With political and social uncertainty increasing and the prospect of votes for 16 year olds on the horizon, it has never been more important to equip the next generation with the knowledge and critical thinking skills required to navigate a complex and often polarised world.

Meet the Commissioners

The Commission brings together an esteemed group of leaders from across the education, broadcasting, and technology sectors. Our Commissioners include multi academy trust CEOs, researchers, and journalists who are all committed to understanding how schools can best support children in making sense of the news.

Share insights with the Commission

A vital part of this project is gathering insights from those on the front lines of education. We are now inviting teachers, practitioners, and experts to submit evidence to help shape our recommendations.

If you would like to contribute your perspective or share data on how current affairs are experienced in the classroom, please submit your evidence.
