The Current Affairs Education Commission’s Evidence and Practice Review brings together existing research and practice to understand what we know about current affairs education, where there are gaps and what we can learn from different education systems.
The review has two parts. The Practice Review looks at how current affairs is taught internationally and in England, exploring similarities, differences and gaps across education systems.
The Evidence Review examines the academic literature across three areas central to the Commission’s work:
- how current affairs can support the development of critical thinking and creativity
- teacher and pupil perceptions of teaching and learning about current affairs
- the challenges of teaching current affairs in education
The review also examines leading international approaches, including models from Finland, Denmark and Sweden. It provides an evidence base for the Commission’s wider research and recommendations.
